CBRF Training and Certification Overview

On April 1, 2009, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) introduced revised licensing standards and regulations for community-based residential facilities (CBRFs), as outlined in Wis. Admin Code ch. DHS 83. These regulations require CBRF personnel to complete specific courses designed to provide the essential skills and knowledge necessary for compliance with Wisconsin state regulations in residential settings.

CBRF Training Curriculum and Instructors

The University of Wisconsin Green Bay, appointed by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, developed the curriculum for CBRF training programs. In addition to creating the curriculum, UW-Green Bay also provides certified instructors for these training courses. Empyrean Nurse Consulting is recognized as a CBRF certified instructor and is listed on the UW-Green Bay Wisconsin Instructor Registry.

Instructor-Led Training Courses Offered

  • Standard Precautions: Covers essential infection control practices.
  • First Aid and Choking: Teaches basic emergency response skills.
